Caroldean Ross is known as the "Queen of Cool" throughout the desert. It is a title she's been cultivating from the time she was a young fashionista.
"At 7 or 8 years old, I discovered how fun fashion could be. I would come back from visiting my grandmother in London, wearing cutting-edge clothes no one at home had seen."
Caroldean is still setting trends. Her store, Resale Therapy, offers designer labels at a price that won't break the bank. "I want everyone to be able to walk into a room and turn heads."
Raised in Claremont, California, She graduated from the Los Angeles Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in 1982. Caroldean's first hands-on experience began in the 1980's, when she worked for Laise Adzer on Rodeo Drive as a wholesale buyer and design consultant.
"What's most exciting about fashion is constantly reinventing yourself. One month it's ripped jeans, the next they're clean and skinny. You have to stay close to the ground, so you can detect the changes coming."
Throughout her career, Caroldean has traveled extensively. She has lived in LA and New York, but calls the desert her home.
Caroldean has been a key fashion provider for the Bob Hope Classic Girls since 1995. As a previous Bob Hope Classic Girl herself (Bob-1982), giving back to the community is essential to Caroldean. "Being a Classic Girl was a highlight of my life. They support many local charities. I'm happy I can contribute and honored to still be involved."
Caroldean participates in organizations such as the Leukemia Society, Olive Crest and the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission; she is also a member of the Palm Springs Women in Film.
